A 780 cannot max modern games at 144hz defeating the purpose of having 144hz :(. #Asus vg248qe driver windows 7 upgrade#Makes me want to constantly upgrade video cards to run games above high settings at 144 fps. Contrast, gamma, and colors are not perfect. See my settings in other thoughts for nvidia owners.Ĭons: Picture out the box is AWFUL. Once tweaked, the picture is pretty good. Pros: 144hz is amazing for shooters which I'm sure is a large majority of the people that purchased this. #Asus vg248qe driver windows 7 download#> Then proceed to the TFTCentral website and download the specific ICC profile for the monitor (Unfortunately cannot use include links in comments)Īll in all, an excellent monitor and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who's been eyeing the monitor for purchase Overall Review: * To configure an excellent set-up for the monitor use these settings:Ĭolor Temp: User *RGB: Red 96 / Green 94 / Blue 88 Only a 24" monitor (I personally would have loved a somewhat larger size, but this is only preference) Connecting cables can be a hassle as the ports are vertically placed on the mointor and not horizontal Default brightness of the monitor is incredibly bright, but playing with settings and installing an ICC Profile can fix that easily Stand is firm and the monitor does not wobble It makes transitioning pictures/video seem so much more fluid and there isn't any noticeable motion blur (this is especially the case in FPS games) 144hz (or even 120hz) is absolutely a huge game changer in the world of gaming and even just regular computer usage. ![]() Installed an excellent ICC Profile* for the monitor which makes it absolutely incredible (For people who complain about pic quality or potentially washed out colours I had initially hesitated because of reading some negative comments about colour/picture quality, but honestly, the default settings were great. Pros: First off, Ive had this monitor for about 3 weeks now and I have to say, I can never, ever go back to having a standard 60hz monitor. In Summary this is the best gaming screen I have ever had, looks amazingly well after color profile correction! #Asus vg248qe driver windows 7 install#Install the driver to enable 144Hz in Windows, then go to (google it with keyword VG248QE) and download the specific AMD or NVIDIA color profile for this monitor which you can load to win7 or win8 and lastly set the monitor (firmware menu) to:Īlternatively (or additionally) google Zero Motion Blur and use the LightBoost feature in 2D mode to literally eliminate motion blur (like on CRT). Overall Review: Knocking one egg off for bad stock color (ICC) profile. NOTE: there is custom ICC profile available for this monitor and NVIDIA orAMD cards on - get that, it's much better than stock one! *built-in speaker (never used them personally)Ĭons: *stock ICC color profile is bad for eyes (brightness & contrast) and looks washed out of saturation *easy to navigate menu allowing for multitude of adjustments *excellent stand allowing for all direction adjustment Pros: *great price at ($264.99) where I bought it Ultra smooth action with 144 Hz rapid refresh rate and 1ms (GTG) response timeįull HD 1920 x 1080, 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and 350 cd/m2 of brightness for like-like visualsĪ comfortable viewing experience with ergonomic tilt, swivel pivot, and height adjustmentįeaturing DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports for multi device connectionsīuilt-in 2W stereo speakers for an immersive home entertainment experienceĭimensions & Weight Dimensions (H x W x D)Īdditional Information Date First Available I need to see if I can get them to fix that.Learn more about the ASUS VG248QE Model Brandĭual-link DVI-D (support NVIDIA 3D Vision)īSMI, CB, CCC, CE, C-Tick, ErP, FCC, Gost-R, J-MOSS, PSE, RoHS, UL / cUL, VCCI, WEEE, WHQL (Windows 8, Windows 7) ![]() ![]() Then there's the unfortunate case of Europa Universalis 4 which has a slider labelled gamma which is actually brightness. It's pretty easy to tell most of the time when you start a game up and the colors are washed out but a lot of them have gamma adjustment or brightness adjustment which is actually gamma. Even more annoying is that some games actually change the desktop gamma so you have to reload your ICC profile after you quit. The issue with games is that an almost universal Direct3D call resets the display gamma in fullscreen mode. I've been using their nVidia profile at 120Hz which provides very good gamma but their color settings seemed a bit off to me so I'm using the values from the Toms Hardware review: 95, 92, 88 with 80 contrast. My worry is that some games don't support it, and I've no way of knowing when they don't. There is a noticeable difference, at least on the Windows desktop. I've been using the ICC from the review for quite some time. Spacediver wrote:So, has anyone actually been able to "load in" an ICC profile and see an immediate noticeable difference? ![]()
